Brazil Dog News

SALVADOR, Brazil — A dog’s concern for her hospitalized master has moved medical staff and patients at Sweet Sister Hospital in Salvador, reported online media.
Dog Waits Outside Hospital for Master
The dog, a bitch named Nina, chose a sidewalk in front of the health unit to live. “She is here every day. As a well-mannered dog, we allow her to enter the hospital,” said Marco Antônio, who works at the facility.
Nina didn’t choose the spot by chance. Her master, Renato, is receiving treatment inside the facility for alcoholism. Renato, a recycler, attests that Nina is there everyday and she is always excited and happy.
“Affection, attention, longing and emotion is what she gives me. We’ve been together for two years,” Renato told TV Bahia. He went on to explain how Nina always accompanies him to work and stays with him throughout day protecting him from danger.
“She protects wherever I am and doesn’t let anyone get close to me or mess with my stuff. She attacks anyone putting a hand on me,” said Renato.
“better a dog for a friend than a friend who’s a dog”
Marco, the hospital worker who lets Nina enter to visit her master each day, seemed moved by the situation. “It shows what true friendship is. As people say: better a dog for a friend than a friend who’s a dog.”
