RIO DE JANEIRO – A giant cloud that resembled an approaching tsunami captivated residents and tourists enjoying a Sunday afternoon at the beach in Santos (SP), reported Brazilian online media. Marcela Pierotti of TV Tribuna photographed the scene.
Beachgoers taking advantage of above average spring temperatures and clear skies noticed the strange cloud formation at about 2:30 p.m. The massive cloud moved toward shore at low altitude, giving the impression that a tsunami would hit the city.
Dozens of people on Gonzaga Beach left their umbrellas and walked toward the sea, mesmerized by the scene. They snapped photos, and recorded video with cell phones as others pointed out to sea and spoke among themselves.
