RIO DE JANEIRO — Carine Felizardo, representing the state of Para, won the Miss Bumbum 2012 title at an event held Friday night in Sao Paulo, recognizing her as having the “best butt in the world.” Andressa Urach, representing Santa Catarina took second, followed by Camila Vernaglia for Sao Paulo.

Miss Best Butt Brazil caused uproar not only in Brazil, but around the globe. The news that Carine Felizardo, representing the state of Para, won the grand prize for having the most beautiful butt, bumbum, moneymaker, ass, buns or onion in the nation – and implicitly, in the world – made news around the globe.
Britain’s The Sun released several photos, a video and described the reaction of the participants and the format of the competition, judged by a jury of six women and five men who collectively determined that Carine Felizardo, representing the northern state of Para, had the best “assets” and would take home the $2,500 grand prize. The first and second-runner ups take home $1,500 and $1,000 each, respectively.
The newspaper Inquirer noted the fact that journalists, for the most part men, packed the event. The German newspaper Bild highlighted a photo of the holder of the best butt in the world winner, with the caption “This is the best butt in Brazil.”
In addition to Brazil Dispatch, the Croation news site Indez, the Toronto Star, Italian AGI – who called the winner “curvy” – and the Argentine magazine Context, which highlighted the “tiny bikinis” used by the competitors, covered the event.
