RIO DE JANEIRO – Police in the Amazonas state capital, Manaus, arrested a young woman Saturday carrying 2.5 kilograms of pure cocaine hidden in her push-up bra and bound to her body. The woman had arrived on a flight from Rio Branco, capital of Acre state, which borders Peru and Bolivia, reported online media.

Police told G1 that the drug was in an almost pure state, and dealers probably would have adulterated it with other substances, creating about 10 kilograms for sale in the streets. The arrest came as the result of an anonymous tip indicating, “a small woman with indigenous traits would arrive from Rio Branco with hidden drugs.”
Police dispatched a team to the airport to watch for the woman described in the call. After identifying a suspect, they followed her as she left the airport terminal and got into a chauffeured car, which they stopped.
Interrogated at the police station, the woman confessed that she was traveling with false identification and carrying the drugs, which she would have sold in Manaus. She declined, however, to give the names of others involved.
The woman turned out to be a fugitive from justice, having escaped from jail in Acre, where she was awaiting trial on drug trafficking charges. In Manaus, police said they would charge her with drug trafficking, criminal association and using false documents.
