RIO DE JANEIRO – Federal Highway Police (PRF) in central Brazil seized nearly 10 thousand packages of illegal drugs in two cars, early Monday morning. Police busted the traffickers on the BR-050, near Cumari, 258 kilometers from Goiania, capital of Goias state.
Officers stopped the two drivers, 42 and 46, after they ran through a PRF checkpoint on the border of Minas Gerais and Goias states without stopping. Police forced them to stop about 20 kilometers down the highway.
When searching the interiors of the vehicle, police found pills and ampoules of drugs, such as sexual stimulants, anabolic steroids, weight loss drugs and a small amount of crack cocaine. Also according to the PRF, they found smuggled electronic goods.
Both drivers are second offenders, known to police. Police arrested the two and transported them to the Civil Police Station in Catalão.
The smuggled goods most likely originated in Paraguay and were destined for the capital, Brasilia.
