In Santa Catarina, a hard frost is forecast with temperatures as low as 21.2° F before dawn Thursday in the plateau region. In Porto Alegre, Fepagro forecast a low of 37.4° F.

A heavy mass of cold and dry polar air, which should arrive on Wednesday, will dominate the weather in the Southern states, according to the Center for Information on Environmental Resources and Hydro-meteorology of Santa Catarina.

Last week freezing temperatures left frost the Sierra of Santa Catarina. By the end of the week, temperatures warmed up.

Today, there is a predominantly sunny sky in the south and temperatures around 59° F in the Santa Catarina state capital, Florianópolis.
