“I had a day like I’ve never had before. I took a walk from Copacabana to Ipanema, went to Christ the Redeemer, went to the steakhouse for the second time in two days. Then I went to the favela Santa Marta,” said the actor. “It was a very good day, this is a very interesting city. It was a sensational feeling being here the last week,” he said at a news conference held at a Rio hotel Thursday morning.

The good-humored Hollywood star commented on his impressions of Brazilian women in bikinis on the beach. “Wait, I have a noted response to this, kind of safe,” he said to the laughter of reporters. “I have no girlfriend, but if I had one and she wanted to use a Brazilian bikini, fine by me. It would be fine on the beaches of Rio,” he added.

Even with some personal questions prohibited, Colin finally answered one about his experience with caipirinhas the national drink: “that was the reason I quit drinking.” Colin Farrell has been through rehabilitation centers during his tumultuous past. Today, he ensures that he has not had a drink for about seven years and is totally focused on his career.

Farrell spent about a forty-five minutes talking about his visit to Brazil, his acting career and his new movie, much to the delight of the national media, many of them – men and women – clearly star-struck.

In comparison with his personal character, which seeks to know what is real, among thousands of dreams, he admits that he has at his fingertips the dream he’s had since adolescence. “I wanted to be a football (soccer) player in my country (Ireland), that was the dream more likely. Then I started to grow, to chase girls, things changed a bit,” he laughs.
