RIO DE JANEIRO – Alanis Morissette will travel to Brazil in September to do eight shows, announced Time for Fun productions on Tuesday. The Canadian-American singer will tour the country to promote her seventh studio album, , which goes on sale August 28th.

Morissette performs September 2nd and 3rd in São Paulo at Creditcard Hall. On the 5th in Curitiba at Master Hall. The 7th in Rio de Janeiro at Citibank Hall. The 9th in Belo Horizonte at Chevrolet Hall. On the 12th in Recife at Chevrolet Hall. On the 14th in Belém at Cidade da Folha and on the 16th in Goiânia at Goiânia Arena.
This is the first album from Alanis in four years. The last was in 2008. The singer, now 38, began her career in the early 1990s in her native Canada. She gained worldwide fame five years later, with the album , which sold over 33 million copies.
Maverick Records released Jagged Little Pill internationally in 1995. The album was expected only to sell enough for Morissette to make a follow-up, but the situation changed quickly when KROQ-FM, an influential Los Angeles modern rock radio station, began playing “You Oughta Know”, the album’s first single. The song instantly garnered attention for its scathing, explicit lyrics, and a subsequent music video went into heavy rotation on MTV and MuchMusic.
Her second international album , released in 1998, was also successful. Morissette took up producing duties for her following albums, which include , and .
The star, who became an American citizen in 2005, has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide. Morissette is known for her powerful and emotive mezzo-soprano voice.

Tickets can be purchased at the box office, on the internet or by phone 4003-5588, and also at retail locations across the country. Ticket prices were not released. Citibank, Diners Club and Creditcard customers can purchase tickets in advance between July 12th and 18th. General ticket sales begin on July 19th.
