Airliner Skidding Off Runway Shown in Videos
The first video, recorded from the ground, shows the aircraft kicking up a large cloud of red dust as it leaves the runway. It was the pilot’s second attempt to land the aircraft in the winds which resulted in the near catastrophe.
In the second video, recorded by Pedro Henrique dos Reis from inside the ATR 72–600 twin-engine turboprop, distress in passenger’s voices as the plane skids off the runway is clear. Despite the scare, none of the 49 passengers or crew reported injuries after the airliner skidded off runway.
The jetliner remains in Cascavel for maintenance. In a statement, Azul Airlines said it will investigate the incident.
