Katy spoke to reporters at a hotel in Rio’s South Zone on Monday (30). “I haven’t slept because of the wonderful sounds that came to my room. Fans know how to keep me awake all night,” joked the singer. Perry made the comments during a press conference about the movie “Part of Me,” a documentary with images of shows and interviews. The film opens in Brazilian theaters next Friday (3).
The star praised her Brazilian fans, who sing songs and shout phrases like “Katy, I love you” in front of her hotel. “I don’t know what’s in the water that you drink around here, because I have fans [here] like nowhere else in the world,” she said. “When I heard of the movie premiers around the world, I made a point to return to Brazil because the Brazilians deserved it,” she added.

According to the singer, the dates of her next performances in Brazil have not been set yet. “I will show you here when I have new things to share,” she assured her fans. Last year she performed twice in Brazil: Rock in Rio and once in São Paulo.
It was just before going on stage in São Paulo, that Katy received a text message from her then husband, English comedian Russell Brand, asking for a divorce. Filmmakers captured on film the poignant moment she received that text and included it in the movie.
“In 2010, I was planning the tour and it occurred to me that something big was about to happen. And I thought, ‘why not record everything?’. It’s something I want to show my children,” she explained. “It’s about overcoming obstacles. It was fun doing it. And fun to watch. We edited from 300 hours of material. I did not know so much would happen in my life that year. The Brazilian fans were very important in this film, because I needed this support. I was about to collapse,” she said, alluding to the São Paulo concert.
