Hospital Patient Shot Dead in Bed

FLORIANÓPOLIS, Brazil – Gunmen entered the largest hospital in Santa Catarina state on Friday afternoon and shot a patient nine times. The 25-year-old patient, who was in the hospital recovering from another shooting, died, reported Brazilian online media.

A patient was shot dead in his hospital bed at the Hospital Regional de São José, in metropolitan Florianópolis, on Friday 04 May 2012.

According to reports, two gunmen entered the Hospital Regional de São José, in metropolitan Florianópolis, at about 2:30 pm and shot the man dead. The victim was recovering in the hospital after being shot during an attempted murder in nearby Palhoça.

The two suspected gunmen escaped. A third suspect, who was waiting in a car in the hospital parking lot and drove the getaway car, escaped as well. Police searched the area and setup a roadblock on the BR-101 highway, about 2 km from the hospital, but were not able to find those responsible.
